ACADEMIC ADVISING

No two students share the same goals and the right path may call for different perspectives. That’s why we offer an integrated advising model where you have an opportunity to connect with a team of experts to get the personalized advising you need.

To start, you will have a professional academic advisor for your entire VSB experience to guide you on academic planning, connect you with on-campus resources and programs, and support your journey from undergraduate business students to become a global servant leader. Additionally, first year students and sophomores are matched with junior and senior peer advisors, who serve as a point of contact for college transition issues, selecting classes, and getting involved in VSB and University activities.

Transfer students at VSB have access to a breadth of resources geared towards their unique transitional needs, including the VSB Transfer Student Success Program.

Faculty mentors are also available to share a wealth of knowledge and expertise about their discipline. These faculty mentors provide guidance about opportunities and career paths and suggest elective courses as well as secondary majors and minors that support your interests.

BEGIN YOUR ADVISING JOURNEY

Your first year is a time of transition. Here at VSB, you’ll have a number of opportunities available to you. We hope you will explore your options, form relationships, get involved, and take advantage of all VSB and ¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥ have to offer. The ¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥ community is here to support your development throughout your college career.

Sophomore year is a time of exploration and involvement. This year, having experienced a broad overview in Business Dynamics, you will explore the different business disciplines in greater depth as you choose majors and minors and consider participation in internship and/or CoOp experiences, study abroad programs, and leadership opportunities.

Junior and senior years are times of significant academic growth and personal development. Students draw from their experiences, both in and out of the classroom, to focus their interests and crystallize their personal and professional goals. As you consider life beyond graduation, we hope you will take advantage of the myriad opportunities and resources available at VSB to support you as you make decisions about your future.

FACULTY MENTORS

Faculty mentors have a wealth of knowledge to share about their discipline. All four years, students are encouraged to engage in ongoing conversations with faculty mentors about declaring a major/minor in a specific field; finding opportunities and career paths within the discipline; and choosing elective courses, secondary majors, minors and graduate schools.

PEER ADVISORS

Peer Advisors are an integral part of the VSB advising team, which is composed of the Clay Center advisor, peer advisor, and faculty advisor.

VSB PEER TUTORS

VSB Peer Tutors support the academic success of their undergraduate classmates by providing drop-in office hours and the option to schedule individual tutoring appointments throughout the semester.

ACADEMIC AND SUPPORT RESOURCES

Academic advisors work collaboratively with support offices across campus to foster student success; advisors refer students to these resources when appropriate to help with challenges they may be facing or questions they may have as they move through their 4 years at VSB.
