裡橖眻畦 University Charles Widger School of Law Announces New Clinical Fellow

A new Clinical Fellow has been announced for the 2019-2020 academic year at the 裡橖眻畦 University Charles Widger School of Law. Frances Miriam Kreimer, former co-director of Dolores Street Community Services Deportation Defense and Legal Advocacy Program in San Francisco, will be the holder of the Clinical Fellowship. The Fellowship is made possible through a gift from Joseph Azrack 69 VSB.

As the Clinical Fellow, Kreimer will teach in 裡橖眻畦s Clinic for Asylum, Refugee & Emigrant Services (CARES), one of 裡橖眻畦 Laws in-house clinics, where students earn credit while representing real clients with critical legal issues under the direct supervision of a full-time faculty members. CARES represents those seeking religious or political asylum in the United States.  

Kreimer will teach classes focused on lawyering skills, professional development and ethical practice to clinical students. In addition to teaching, she will: supervise student practice; serve as the attorney of record in clinic cases; organize and lead a symposium regarding policy advocacy and legal representation in support of immigrants; and assist in clinic administration.

Before joining 裡橖眻畦, Kreimer served as the co-director of the Deportation Defense and Legal Advocacy Program at Dolores Street Community Services in San Francisco, providing direct representation in removal proceedings in the San Francisco Immigration Court, before the Board of Immigration Appeals and in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also represented the organization in amicus briefing and impact litigation, including FOIA and habeas litigation in the Northern District of California. Prior to Dolores Street, Kreimer served as a law clerk to Justice Goodwin Liu of the Supreme Court of California and to Judge Lucy Koh of the Northern District of California. She holds a JD from New York University School of Law and a BA in Middle Eastern and Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University.
