Matthew Carluzzo Named Assistant Dean of Students and Academic Success
Mark C. Alexander, The Arthur J. Kania Dean and Professor of Law, recently announced the appointment of Matthew Carluzzo to the newly established position of Assistant Dean of Students and Academic Success for the Charles Widger School of Law. Since 2014 Carluzzo has served as Director of Academic Success and Bar Support Programs.
Carluzzo will oversee academic success, bar support, character and fitness, accommodations and attendance. He will work closely with students, faculty and staff to enhance the personal and intellectual development of the diverse student body, and to ensure that the best possible resources and guidance are provided to students.
Student success is at the core of this great law school and the creation of this new position is a visible sign of our commitment to our students, said Dean Alexander. Matt is a dedicated instructor and advocate for our students, and I am confident that in his new role he will continue to improve our ability to serve our students and the greater Law School community.
I am very grateful to be part of a fantastic team dedicated to offering the academic and personal support that our students so often require during their time with us, said Carluzzo. My personal aspiration is that the help we provide to students will continue to serve them throughout their lives beyond 裡橖眻畦. I am very excited that my new role, on an expanded team, will help 裡橖眻畦 continue to build on the excellent student-focused resources we offer to our community.
In his previous role as the Director of Academic Success and Bar Support Programs, Carluzzo designed and instructed programs and courses that teach students the skills necessary to succeed in law school, on the bar exam, and in their future legal practice.
Prior to joining 裡橖眻畦, from 2010 to 2014, Carluzzo served as the Director of Academic Success and Assistant Professor of Law at Vermont Law School, and from 2007 to 2008, he was the Dean of Cook Commons at Middlebury College. Other previous experience includes the litigation practice group at Arnold & Porter, corporate insurance law work at Gilbert LLP, and the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Carluzzo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Dartmouth College and a Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.
