The Peggy Browning Fund has awarded a 10-week summer fellowship to Madison Slupe 21, which she will spend working at Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 19 in Philadelphia, PA. The Fellowship is awarded to students who excel both in the classroom and in their commitment to workers rights through their educational, work, volunteer and personal experiences. Slupes outstanding qualifications helped her triumph over this years 450 applicants.

Slupe graduated from The Pennsylvania State Universitys School of Labor and Employment, where she led the pro-labor student organization and was heavily involved with workers rights campaigns on campus. At 裡橖眻畦, she is involved in local politics and labor movements and is the first-year representative for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. She hopes to use her degree to protect and advance workers rights through traditional labor law and labor education.

Madison plans a career that will turn her formidable skills and energy towards improving the lives of American workers, commented Ellen Wertheimer, Professor of Law. The labor movement is extremely fortunate to be the focus of the career goals of such a vibrant and dynamic advocate!

The Peggy Browning Fund is a non-profit organization established in memory of Margaret A. Browning, a prominent union-side attorney who was a member of the National Labor Relations Board from 1994 until 1997. Peggy Browning Fellowships provide law students with unique, diverse and challenging work experiences fighting for social and economic justice. These experiences encourage and inspire students to pursue careers in public interest labor law. In 2019, the Peggy Browning Fund will support over 80 public interest labor law fellowships nationwide.
