Diane E. Ambler 78 named Chair of 裡橖眻畦 Laws Board of Consultors

Diane E. Ambler 78 was named Chair of the 裡橖眻畦 University Charles Widger School of Laws Board of Consultors, effective June 1, 2017. A longtime member of the Board of Consultors, she previously served as Vice Chair, Secretary and Chair of the Planning for the Future and Curricular Innovation Committees. The Board of Consultors serves as an advisory board to the Dean of the Law School and to other officers and members of the law school community.

An active and involved alum, Ms. Ambler previously served as the Vice Chair of the 裡橖眻畦 Law National Giving Program, Co-Chair of the Baltimore-Washington Regional Campaign to help fund construction of the new building, and a member of the editorial board for The 裡橖眻畦 Journal of Law and Investment Management. She also is a founding and current member of the 裡橖眻畦 Law Alumni Association DC/MD/VA Alumni Chapter Board.

Ms. Ambler is a in Washington D.C., where she practices securities law with a focus on investment products, such as mutual funds and private investment funds. She is a frequent speaker and author, is ranked as one of the top lawyers in her field by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers of America, and is listed in Martindale-Hubbells Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers and in the Guide to the Worlds Leading Women in Business Law, among other professional recognitions.

Ms. Ambler is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University School of Law and a member of The American Law Institute. She chaired the ABAs Subcommittee on Investment Companies and Investment Advisers and the ABAs Committee on Developments in Investment Services. She holds or has held leadership positions in, among other organizations, the ABA Retirement Funds, the Securities Committee of the Federal Bar Association, the Mutual Fund Directors Forum, the Variable Insurance Products Committee previously maintained at FINRA, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum and the National Association of Women Lawyers.

Ms. Ambler earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester. As a law student, she was an Editor of the 裡橖眻畦 Law Review, graduated Salutatorian, Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif and received the Hyman-Goodman and The Saint Thomas More Society awards. Ms. Ambler served as a law clerk to The Hon. Charles Clark of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
