Describe your interest in your academic program and what you hope to gain from it.

My time as an undergraduate helped me recognize a passion I have for supporting social change. I knew that I wanted to further my education to better equip myself to have a meaningful impact on the public. I found public administration to be the perfect field to learn how to become a leader in my community and continue growing my understanding of the world. From this program, I hope to find the best path for supporting positive social development.

What is your favorite course youve taken so far? If you are in your first year, what course are you most looking forward to in your program? Why?

I am currently taking Effective Non-Profit Management with Dr. Wilson, and I have really enjoyed the class so far because of the range of the curriculum. I feel as though I am gaining an understanding of the history of nonprofit organizations while also learning what it means to be an effective leader in the nonprofit sector. I am also excited at the opportunity to be working with a local nonprofit organization as part of the course project, as it will help me learn more about nonprofit management as well as the impact that these organizations have on the surrounding community.

What are a few things you would like to share with prospective students regarding the 裡橖眻畦 student experience?

When I was deciding where to attend graduate school, one of the main factors in making my decision was finding a university that cares about its students. Coming into 裡橖眻畦, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people, organizations, resources, etc. that are available to me as a graduate student. One of the best ways to feel at home on campus is getting involved and taking advantage of the opportunities offered. Push yourself out of your comfort zone because it will help you find your place on campus and get the full scope of what 裡橖眻畦 has to offer.

How do you maintain a good school/life balance?

The best way that I found is by staying organized. Everyone has a different system that helps them maintain organization, but the biggest recommendation I have is finding what works for you. Personally, I use a vast number of tools to keep myself organized. One of the most impactful tool Ive found is Outlook calendar, which I use to keep track of important events such as classes or meetings. Maintiaining organization helps you ensure that you are meeting the requirements of being a student, while also helping you set time aside to enjoy your hobbies or hang out with friends.

If youre living around 裡橖眻畦, what are one to two must do experiences you would suggest to students new to 裡橖眻畦 and the surrounding area including Philadelphia?

Personally, I am a huge fan of coffee. Of all the coffee shops I have tried, I highly recommend Char & Stave in Ardmore because of the quality coffee and the atmosphere. I will typically go during a weekday morning to help give myself a boost to finish out the week strong. On the weekend, I try and go to the Bryn Mawr farmers market on Saturdays because its a great way to support local businesses and experience some of the local culture!
