The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has been the intellectual heart of 裡橖眻畦 since the Universitys founding in 1842. With more than 40 academic departments and programs offering undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as doctoral programs in Philosophy and Theology, CLAS provides a rich, rigorous and diverse educational experience.

Faculty in the College are teacher-scholars. In her new book Flood Plain, poet and English Professor Lisa Sewell, PhD, engages with the pressing realities of environmental change through creative writing. The poetry collection investigates wild lands, coastal regions, wetlands and dam-ruined riverslandscapes that have been altered by human activity.
