Not Blind to Injustice: The Experiences of Disabled Women Worldwide
Connelly Cinema, Connelly Center | ֱ University

This documentary was directed by Kaleigh Brendle, Lorenzini Ambassador for the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute. The film explores the legal and societal perception of disability in five different countries—Singapore, New Zealand, Germany, Mexico, and South Africa through the firsthand accounts of a blind woman from each country.

Viewers learn about what it’s like to earn an education, search for employment, and navigate the social stigma and discrimination that arises due to the interlocking stereotypes about disability and femininity.

These women address the lack of disability representation in media in their countries, and advocate for a future in which they are equal under the law and the harmful biases about them are eliminated.
