The Global Philadelphia Association has launched a campaign to promote SDG awareness in Philadelphia through murals - 17 murals are to be unveiled throughout the city, each corresponding to a singular SDG. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich, and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. Seventeen fundamental goals have been identified. Collectively, they address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.

Sustainable Development Goals Public Art Campaign in Philadelphia

Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) and ΈΜιΩΦ±²¥ University are partnering to debut a public art mural for Sustainable Development Goal #12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. This SDG emphasizes sustainable practices, reducing waste, and creating a more responsible production-consumption cycle.
The artwork, created by artist Margaret Hobson-Baker, will be unveiled at ΈΜιΩΦ±²¥ University. It portrays humans as active guardians of the environment and emphasizes their interconnectedness with one another and the Earth.
Maggie Hobson-Baker is an artist, designer, and Assistant Teaching Professor in Studio Art, living and working in the Philadelphia Area. Her work reflects her love of shape, color, nature, and design. She loves drawing on her iPad, and Bamboo Tablet as well as working with traditional materials. You can often find her with her camera and sketchbook in the woods. She is especially interested in the dialogue between traditional and digital platforms in the creation of art and visual images.
