Students enrolling in the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program (UTEP) and Master of Arts in Education, plus Teacher Certification degree programs may be interested in becoming certified in teaching.
¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥â€™s programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and meet the educational requirements to obtain teacher certification in Pennsylvania. Each state/jurisdiction has unique educational and prerequisite requirements that candidates must meet in order to obtain certification and/or licensure. However, most states through the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement will allow out of state prepared educators to transfer their teaching certification.
It is strongly recommended that students who live or are planning to live outside of Pennsylvania and who are enrolled in our programs contact their state’s department of education for their state’s specific educational requirements. It is also recommended that students obtain their PA Instructional I Certification first then apply for teaching certification in another state.
Note: Licensure in one state does not always mean licensure in another will automatically be granted, even with the reciprocity agreement in place. Each state reviews each application.
Additional questions should be directed to the Department of Education & Counseling.
