Alpha Nu Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau
is the only international honor society of nursing. The Alpha Nu chapter was established at ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ in 1966 to recognize superior achievement, leadership, high professional standards, creative work, and commitment to the high ideals of the nursing profession among nursing students. Research grants, conferences, publications, films, exhibits and awards are extended nationally by Sigma Theta Tau.

Membership
At ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯, membership is an honor conferred on students by invitation. This follows after a committee review of qualified students.
Undergraduate candidates for Sigma Theta Tau must:
- Have completed at least one-half of the required nursing component of the baccalaureate curriculum
- Have achieved an overall grade point average of at least 3.0
- Rank in the upper 35% of the class
- Meet the expectation of academic integrity
RN-BSN students are considered separately. They must:
- Have completed 12 credits at ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯
- Have achieved a GPA of 3.0
- Rank in the upper 35% of the class
- Have completed one-half of nursing curriculum
- Meet the expectation of academic integrity
Students in the Graduate Program must:
- Have completed 1/4 of the program of study
- Have achieved a GPA of 3.5
- Meet the expectation of academic integrity
Nurse leaders from the community must:
- Legally recognized to practice nursing in his or her country
- Hold a minimum of a baccalaureate or the equivalent in any field
- Demonstrate excellence in nursing
The completed for the appropriate type of member (Undergraduate, Graduate, or Nurse Leader) and two completed from current members of Sigma Theta Tau International are required to be considered for induction into Alpha Nu Chapter. These completed forms need to be submitted to the Graduate or Undergraduate Faculty Counselors by May 1st.
