Dr. Fauzia Ahmad Promoted to Research Professor and Invited to Join Editorial Board
Director of the Radar Imaging Lab at ¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥ University’s Center for Advanced Communications (CAC), Fauzia Ahmad, PhD, has been promoted to research professor. Dr. Ahmad joined ¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥â€™s College of Engineering in 2002. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in radar signal processing and radar imaging.
Among Dr. Ahmad’s areas of research interest are waveform design, array signal processing, compressive sensing and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) radar systems. In addition to having coauthored more than 120 journal articles and peer-reviewed conference papers on the these topics, Dr. Ahmad has been a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on several contracts and grants from U.S. Federal agencies in the area of urban radar systems, radar signal processing and array signal processing.
A senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE), Dr. Ahmad chairs the annual SPIE Compressive Sensing Conference. This spring, she was invited to serve a three-year term as an editorial board member for the IET Radar, Sonar, & Navigation Journal, a leading publication in the field of radar systems. In this role, she will handle the publication’s peer review process of submitted research papers in all aspects of the theory and practice of radar signal processing. She will also help contribute to the advancement of the journal by monitoring the editorial policy in terms of its coverage of new and emerging areas.
Dr. Ahmad is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she earned both her master’s and doctorate in Electrical Engineering.
