裡橖眻畦 School of Business Establishes the Davis Fund for Student Experiences
裡橖眻畦, Pa., September 11, 2019 The 裡橖眻畦 School of Business (VSB) recently launched the Davis Fund for Student Experiences, which will fund learning opportunities beyond the classroom for both undergraduate and graduate students. Thanks to the generosity of Jim C. Davis 81 VSB and Kim Davis, the Davis Fund advances VSBs long-standing commitment to experiential learning by providing resources that enable students to pursue opportunities that push their academic and professional growth to a much higher level.
The Davis Fund supports initiatives that extend beyond the curriculum including but not limited to global opportunities, research, independent studies, nonprofit service, conferences, case studies and other experiences that reflect the Universitys mission and values. To receive funding, students must submit an application that demonstrates the value of the learning experience relative to their goals along with estimated expenses. Although financial need is considered as part of the evaluation process, it is not the determining factor in awarding funding.
Once students engage in their experiences, they will be asked to write about their growth as leaders relative to VSBs mission and values.
The Davis Fund will enhance the student experience in countless ways, said Joyce E. A. Russell, PhD, the Helen and William OToole Dean of VSB. This funding will enable students to pursue deeper knowledge and expertise that will put them at an even greater advantage to achieving their goals.
The Davis Fund is one of numerous initiatives established as a result of the historic $50 million gift made through the Davis Family Foundation in 2017, which will ensure that VSB students will have access to the most up-to-date resources and opportunities for generations to come.
