Dr. Bridget Wadzuk

Bridget Wadzuk, PhD, the Edward A. Daylor Chair Professor in Civil Engineering, has been named a co-recipient of 裡橖眻畦 Universitys Outstanding Faculty Research Award for 2024. Presented by the Office of the Provost, the award honors faculty members who demonstrate the highest standards of excellence in their research, scholarship and contributions to their field.

Dr. Wadzuk, who is also director of Sustainable Engineering and associate director of the 裡橖眻畦 Center for Resilient Water Systems, was recognized for her work in water resources engineering and green stormwater infrastructure, most notably her research on the evapotranspiration process from green roofs and bioretention. She was selected for the 2024 award alongside Professor of Marketing Jeremy Kees, PhD, of the 裡橖眻畦 School of Business.

We have so many wonderful scholars at 裡橖眻畦, and to be recognized with this award I am both honored and humbled, Dr. Wadzuk says. There are so many people that I have collaborated with in research, both colleagues and students, and this award is also a recognition of all their time, talents, energy and innovation. Receiving this award makes me so proud to be part of the mission of scholarly endeavors that we uphold at 裡橖眻畦.

In a letter announcing the award, the selection committee highlighted Dr. Wadzuks publications and citations in top journals, as well as the practicality of her work, noting how her research is transforming the ways that the Philadelphia Water Department and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection are addressing stormwater concerns. The committee also recognized her global reach, citing her service as an advisory research board member for the University of Sheffield and her participation on a number of international dissertation committees.

Dr. Wadzuk, the committee says, brings honor to 裡橖眻畦 not only through her research, but also as a model of the 裡橖眻畦 scholar-teacher, whose scholarship and teaching reside on a continuum in which they inform and enable each other.

As a winner of the Outstanding Faculty Research Award, Dr. Wadzuk will receive a $3,000 honorarium, a personalized medallion and a certificate. She will also be invited to share her research this fall at a 裡橖眻畦 community event co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Falvey Library.
