1957

Robert F. Lima 57 CLAS, 61 MA was named knight commander in the Imperial Orden Hispanica de Carlos V in Segovia, Spain. He also was honored to record his poetry in Spanish and English for the Library of Congress Hispanic division.

1959

Joseph R. Miele, OD, 59 CLAS wrote an editorial in Optometry & Visual Performance (vol. 4,no. 5), urging his colleagues to help athletes increase their speeds and stamina by prescribing certain types of lenses. The athletes learn to run faster while running less frequently, thereby decreasing their risk of injuries. Dr. Miele also had an article published in the same journal (vol. 5, no. 4) titled Prevention, Correction, and Compensation Using the Range of Clarity, which details the stages of optical development of myopia and hyperopia.

Reginald Powe 60 CLAS, a 裡橖眻畦 Medallion winner, is the leader of Team CCI, a finalist in the XPRIZE Competition. The competition challenged teams from around the world to develop scalable software that will empower children in developing countries to teach themselves basic reading, writing and arithmetic in their native languages.

1962

Peter Nolan 62 CLAS published his second nonfiction book, News Stories, which chronicles his many years as a broadcast newsman.

1963

J. Edmund Mullin 63 CLAS, 66 CWSL received the 2018 Best Lawyers in America Award in the area of land use and zoninglaw.

Martin G. McGuinn 64 CLAS, 67 CWSL received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Whos Who, publisher of biographical profiles.

Thomas Di Sessa, MD, 66 CLAS recently completed his 50th humanitarian mission as a pediatric cardiologist.

Robert Pomante, CPA, 69 VSB partner at Robert J. Pomante & Associates, was elected for a second term as the president of Llanerch Country Club.

Edward Donahue, MD, 70 CLAS retired after a 34-year career as a surgeon and chief medical officer at St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.

Dennis F. Glackin 70 CLAS retired as founder and past president of Glackin Thomas Panzak Inc. and is now chairman of the St. Michaels, Md., Planning Commission.

1971

A. Roy DeCaro 71 CLAS was named Philadelphias 2018 Plaintiffs Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers of America, a repeat of his 2014 designation.

William M. Savino 71 CLAS , partner with Rivkin Radler, became a recipient of Long Island Business News New York Icon Award. The award recognizes business leaders, performers, entertainers and artists in New York for their years of experience, lists of achievements, and abilities to lead, motivate and teach others.

1972

Richard Cohen, MD, 72 CLAS won three national father and daughter tennis championships on clay, hard and indoor courts in 2017 with his daughter, Julia. He and Julia were ranked No. 1 in the United States in the father and daughter category by the United States Tennis Association for 2017.

America will turn 250 years old in July 2026, but its not too early to start getting ready for the celebration, and a 裡橖眻畦 alumnus has been tapped to lead the planning. Daniel M. DiLella 73 VSB, president and CEO of Equus Capital Partners Ltd. and a 裡橖眻畦 trustee, has been appointed chairperson of The Semiquincentennial Commission for the United States of America, formed by Congress to prepare an overall program for commemorating the 250th anniversary of the nations founding.

Gary R. Olsen 74 CLAS, 80 MS joined eAdvancement as a principal. eAdvancement is a consortium of independent consultants providing strategic guidance in alumni relations, communications, marketing and development.

Thomas Swick 74 CLAS is happy to announce that his third book, The Joys of Travel: And Stories That Illuminate Them, is now available in paperback.

Mark R. Cuker 75 CWSL joined Philadelphia business law firm Jacobs Law Group. With more than 40 years of experience, Cuker has been highly successful at achieving results in small business advocacy, environmental litigation, pharmacy mass action and consumer class action cases.

Al Daloisio 75 VSB the president and owner of Railroad Construction Co., was inducted into the National Academy of Construction.

Daniel McDermott 75 CLAS was appointed by the attorney general as the US Trustee in Region 21, which oversees the administration of bankruptcy cases filed in Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

DMatthew Sorrentino 75 CWSL spoke at the 13th annual International Street Medicine Conference about volunteer considerations regarding street medicine.

1976

Ronald Steger 76 VSB was appointed to the Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp. board of directors.

1977

Gaetan J. Alfano 77 CLAS, 80 CWSL received the 2018 Best Lawyers in America Award in the area of commercial litigation for the fifth year. In December, he spoke on the gender wage gap employment law at the Business Insurance National Conference in New York City.

For her work as an advocate for the black Catholic community in Philadelphia, Dawn Chism Simms, Esq.,77 CLAS was the recipient of the 2018 St. Martin de Porres Medal from the Archdiocese of Philadelphias Office for Black Catholics. It was her second award for service to the Archdiocese this year in January, she received the Benemerenti Medal, a papal honor, for her exceptional, sustained service to the church. Chism Simms is the assistant general counsel for the School District of Philadelphia and is a longtime officer of the Philadelphia Serra Club, which promotes vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Brian Kelly, MD, 78 CLAS, 84 MS was elected to the title of fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. This recognizes physicians contributions to teaching, leadership, community service, academic achievement and patient care.

Anthony Rollo 78 VSB, of McGlinchey Stafford attorneys, has been named to the 2018 Louisiana Super Lawyers.

Brian Steller 78 CLAS was appointed president of the Brennan-Vanderbilt American Inn of Court.

Amy Barone 80 VSB rublished a new poetry book, We Became Summer, from New York Quarterly Books. Her poetry is featured in a wide range of literary journals and anthologies.

Kevin Curley 80 VSB received the Anam Cara (Soul Friend) Award from the American/Ireland Fund Gala, where the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, 75 CLAS provided the benediction. Curley also was named to the Fionn MacCumhaill Dallas Gaelic Athletic Association Hall of Fame.

Col. David Greco 80 CLAS is retiring after working for the US Department of the Navy since 1980, including a 27-year career serving in the US Marine Corps. He plans to sail, travel and spoil his grandkids.

Thomas G. Parisi 80 CLAS, 83 CWSL was elected president judge of the Berks County Court of Common Pleas.

Alexander W. Ross Jr., Esq., 80 CWSL joined Weber Gallagher in the firms Mount Laurel, N.J., office. Ross has practiced civil litigation defense law in South Jersey for more than 35years.

Maribeth LeBreton 81 FCN received the 2017 Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year Award from Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine.

Gerard A. Malanga, MD, 83 CLAS published a textbook, Regenerative Treatments in Sports and Orthopedic Medicine.

Joyce A. Welliver 83 FCN will be featured in the International Nurses Association Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare publication.

Richard Marino 84 CLAS was elected to the board of supervisors of Towamencin Township, Montgomery County, Pa., for a six-year term.

Gemma Toner 85 VSB is the founder and CEO of Tone Networks, a video and social network for time-starved women, reinforcing the growing 簫women-helping-women movement by providing a supportive online community complete with access to both expert coaching and peer-to-peer advice.

Wendy Wise Borg 86 CLAS is a training coordinator in the Office of Professional Development, County Administration of Middlesex County Government in New Jersey.

Joan E. London, Esq., 87 CLAS, 90 MA was installed as the 85th president of the Berks County Bar Association.

Margaret Peggy McCausland, Esq., 87 CWSL, partner with McCausland & McCausland LLC, was elected president of the board of directors of the Forum of Executive Women, a membership organi簫z簫ation of more than 450 influential women representing diverse businesses in the greater Philadelphia region.

Michelle Moll 87 VSB was named a finalist in the Female Executive of the Year and Most Innovative Woman of the Year categories in the 14th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. Moll is the executive director of RSVP, a company that addresses critical human needs in communities in the Philadelphia area through volunteerism.

Laura Ripley 87 COE recently earned her PhD in teacher education and teacher development from Montclair State University. Ripley is the dean of faculty at Cristo Rey High School in Manhattan and an adjunct assistant professor at Montclair.

Michael Stermock, Esq., 87 CWSL was hired by the Center for Innovative Food Technology as the agribusiness development specialist.

Francis J. Vassallo 87 VSB was recognized for 30 years of service working for Worthington Industries. He is presently employed as corporate purchasing manager of the Worthington Armstrong Venture.

Susan VonNessen-Scanlin 87 FCN recently moved from the Chancellors Office at Rutgers Biomedical Health and Sciences to the School of Nursing as the associate dean of Clinical Affairs. She is also the interim CEO of Rutgers federally qualified health center in Newark, N.J.

While reminiscing about their college days at their 30th Reunion in 2017, Jerry LePore 87 CLAS and Bert Jacobs 87 CLAS, founders of Powerflow Yoga and Life is Good Co., respectively, pondered a novel idea: Why not combine their companies visions of community, health and service? They joined forces to host Yogathon, a 12-hour yoga and mindfulness event to benefit the Life is Good Kids Foundation, which helps vulnerable children overcome poverty, violence and illness. The second annual event, held in May, raised $18,000.

Mark Cuthbertson 88 VSB was re-elected as councilman to his sixth consecutive four-year term of office serving the residents of the town of Huntington, N.Y.

1989

Daniel V. Kearns 89 CLAS was named the Aerospace Executive of the Year by the Cradle of Aviation Air and Space Gala, and he received the Leroy R. Grumman Award for technical achievement.

Dean A. Walters, Esq., 89 CLAS is general counsel and chief compliance officer for the Philadelphia Trust Co. He also serves as an adjunct faculty for 裡橖眻畦 University Charles Widger School of Law Master of Laws in Taxation program.

Daniel E. Cummins 90 CLAS, partner with the Scranton, Pa., civil litigation law firm of Foley, Comerford & Cummins, was recently notified of his selection to appear in the Best Lawyers of America Directory in the practice area of Personal Injury LitigationDefense. Cummins is the only civil litigation defense attorney in northeastern Pennsylvania to be selected in this category bythis national publication. In addition, Cummins also was advised of his selection for inclusion in the 2018 edition of Marquis.

Angelo J. Onofri, Esq., 90 CWSL, a prosecutor for Mercer County, became president of the Mercer County Bar Association for 2018. An active member of the MCBA for more than two decades, Onofri served as a trustee for many years before becoming an officer in 2014.

1991

Megan Clementi, EdD, 91 CLAS, 94 MS successfully defended her dissertation, Writing in Middle School Mathe簫matics Classes, and earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Gwynedd Mercy University.

1992

Michael Baymor 92 VSB has joined Provident Bank as a vice president, relationship manager, with the banks Commercial Lending division. He is responsible for originating commercial loans, lines of credit, equipment loans and real estate mortgages for businesses in the metro Philadelphia market.

John Campbell 92 VSB was named director of Investor Relations at Wells Fargo Bank.

Jennifer Dempsey Fox, JD, MBA, CFP, 93 VSB was appointed president of the Bryn Mawr Trust Co.s Wealth Management division.

Neil Dhar 93 VSB was appointed by PwC to be the US firms leader of Financial Services. Dhar is responsible for overseeing the strategy and leadership of PwCs US Financial Services practice, which includes the asset and wealth management, banking and capital markets, and insurance sectors.

Carol Luttrell 93 MA who received a masters of Environmental and Energy Policy in 2009, retired from working at DuPont after 23 years and now teaches English as an adjunct professor at the University of Delaware.

Tricia Tiehel 93 CLAS joined Long & Fosters Art Herling Team in Wayne, Pa., specializing in working with homebuyers and sellers. Prior to her real estate career, she taught English at Devon Preparatory School for 12 years.

1994

Brian Shea 94 CLAS was hired by Aon Risk Solutions of Aon plc as the resident managing director of the Construction Services group in the New York region. Prior to joining Aon, Shea served as head of the Construction division at Arch Insurance Group for more than 10 years.

Lawrence D. Piergrossi 94 CLAS has spent more than 20 years as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx, N.Y., investigating and prosecuting challenging cases, including those involving corruption and violence in jails and in the construction industry. For his skill as a prosecutor and dedication to public service and ethics, Piergrossi has received the Thomas E. Dewey Medal from the New York City Bar Association, given annually to an outstanding prosecutor in each of the citys five district attorneys offices.

Jason T. LaRocco, Esq., 95 CLAS joined Reger, Rizzo & Darnall as partner in the Philadelphia office.

George Schwartz 95 MS retired from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Sept. 30, 2017. During more than 30years of service, he served both on active and reserve duty in the US, Germany, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He also led several disaster response efforts in Pennsylvania with the National Guard. In his final military roles, he served simultaneously as assistant adjutant general in the Pennsylvania National Guard and as the deputy commandant for Reserve Affairs at the US Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. His awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the French National Defense Medal in Gold.

1996

James Marshall, PhD, 96 CLAS was selected as a recipient of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center 2017 Hydrosphere, Bio簫sphere, and Geophysics Annual Peer Awards in the scientific/technical support category.

Donna Wray 96 CLAS, vice president of TGas Advisors and head of the benchmarking and advisory services firms Digital and Multichannel Marketing practice, has been named to the 13th annual PharmaVOICE 100 Most Inspiring roster.

Amy Fleischer, PhD, 91 COE, 96 MS is the new dean of Cal Polys College of Engineering. A 裡橖眻畦 faculty member since 2000 who served as professor and chair of Mechanical Engineering and director of the Center for Energy-Smart Electronic Systems, Dr. Fleischer stood out for her teaching prowess, her mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and her extensive research into sustainable energy system design and thermal management of electronic systems. She also led the steering committee of the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women's Leadership and founded 裡橖眻畦s Engineering Is for Girls! Day.

1st Lt. Patrick Loughnane 14 COE graduated from the US Army Jumpmaster School conducted in Del Din, Italy. Loughnane leads paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade headquartered in Vicenza, Italy. He is responsible for the performance and safety of US Army paratroopers during airborne mass parachute jumps from US aircraft.
